David M. Perry, DDS, Inc.
Dr. David Perry has been one of the East Bayís most active and trusted pediatric dentists for over 30 years. A proud Cal alum, he completed his undergraduate education at UC Berkeley and earned his D.D.S. from the University of California San Francisco. He continued his specialty training at UCSF and received his certificate in pediatric dentistry in 1973. His notable career began with his decision to come to Alameda to practice pediatric dentistry. Over the years, Dr. Perry has designed and built the premier childrenís dental office now known as Alameda Pediatric Dentistry. Community leader, child advocate, and philanthropist, Dr. Perry has held numerous leadership positions at all levels of county, state, and national dental organizations. He has served as President of the Alameda County Dental Society, President of California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Trustee of the California Dental Association, and numerous other offices. Dr. Perry currently serves as the Chairperson of The Dental Health Foundation and in that capacity leads a consortium of nationally recognized experts on dental health related issues. He has recently completed the prestigious two-year California Health Care Foundation Fellowship and continues to strive for effective vision and leadership of the community health care system. Dr. Perry is on staff at Oakland Childrenís Hospital and has access and privileges to perform hospital dentistry at that facility. Always a positive role model, Dr. Perry enjoys being a mentor and associate clinical professor to the pediatric dental residents of UCSF School of Dentistry as well as to countless other dental professionals.

Weyland Lum, DDS
Dr. Lum received his dental degree from Case Western University and his pediatric dental certification from the University of Illinois, Chicago. He also holds a clinical professor appointment at the UCSF School of Dentistry. Dr. Lum was one of the founding presidents of the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry and has served as president for the California Society of Dentistry for Children and the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is also a fellow of the American College of Dentists, American Society of Dentistry for Children, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. In his spare time, Dr. Lum enjoys spending time with his grandchildren and playing golf.



Karen Y. Taniguchi, DDS
Dr.Taniguchi graduated from UCLA School of Dentistry and completed her pediatric dental training at USC School of Dentistry. Community activities include volunteering in the Give Kids a Smile Day in Los Angeles and Alameda and making class presentations to Alameda elementary schools and Head Start classrooms. She is currently a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, California Society of Pediatric Dentistry and the Alameda Dental Society. Some of her hobbies include skiing, biking and fly fishing.



Sharine V. Thenard, DDS, MS
Dr. Sharine Thenard, an Alameda native and former patient of Dr. Perry, is the newest member of the Alameda Pediatric Dentistry team. Dr. Thenard attended UCSF School of Dentistry and then completed her pediatric dentistry residency at the Columbus Childrenís Hospital in Ohio while she earned a Master of Science from Ohio State University. She also teaches at the UCSF School of Dentistry as an Assistant Clinical Professor in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Thenard is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, and Alameda County Dental Association. She loves to travel, experience culinary adventures, and golf.
